Restaurant Review: Denny's
This month's Socorro restaurant review features Denny's. Yes, that's right, Denny's. Well, what can we say that hasn't already been said about this corporate chain? How about we give some advice - and you would be well advised to heed it, if you value your taste buds and your gastrointestinal well being. To put it bluntly, eating at Denny's is a bit like navigating a mine field - one false step and you may be experiencing some explosions. However, if you walk softly (and carry a big fork), you can find some culinary delights on the menu.
Specifically, we recommend staying within the safe area known as the breakfast menu. The Grand Slam fare is generally good and usually will not result in a hurried trip to the nearest water closet. My personal favorite is the Mega French Toast Slam - everything us gluttonous Americans want in a meal - i.e. about 5 times your recommended annual intake of calories in a single serving. The scientists - no, not chefs - back at Denny's corporate headquarters and food research labs have crafted some good eatin' when it comes to the French Toast Slam. While most restaurant reviewers would eschew any meal concocted in a test tube at a research lab, we aren't that high falutin' here at Socorro News. We will, therefore, say that Denny's merits 4 stars (of a possible 5) with the one caveat - we're talking breakfast food and breakfast food only. Stray from the breakfast menu, and don't come crying to us...
